A Warm Welcome

When your loved one moves to memory care, the priorities are to help them feel at home and to keep them safe while setting your mind at ease. Each resident in our Recollections Memory Care neighborhood has a personalized care plan based on their unique needs and wants that ensures they receive “just right” support. You’ll get to know our staff, who are specially trained to help people with memory loss navigate their new neighborhood. After your loved one moves in, you’ll receive regular updates, too.

An Adjustment Period

For your loved one…

An adjustment period is completely normal. While changes in routine can be challenging for people with memory loss, many adapt to memory care more quickly than you might expect. Being in a safe environment designed to meet them exactly where they are makes the transition easier and more natural.

…And for you.

Family caregivers may have experience mixed emotions and challenging feelings as they adjust to the “new normal.” Many people find it helpful to seek support, either in support groups, online communities, or from trusted family and friends who have “been there.”

A Community for You, Too

Your loved one’s new neighborhood is your neighborhood, too. You can visit with your loved one privately or join them for activities in our Recollections neighborhood whenever you like. Over time, you’ll get to know which times of day work best for them in their new routine, and begin to establish a “new normal.”

And, you’ll get to know the care staff, too. They’re part of your family’s team and share the goal of your loved one staying safe and well.

Support Along the Way

The process of moving a senior loved one to a memory care neighborhood may seem daunting at first. There are so many details, like what to bring, and how to even start the conversation with a loved one who may not fully remember or understand the conversation.

From your first visit, to guidance about having ” the conversation,” to the new normal, we’re by your side. You’ll receive support and guidance from our trained staff, who are experts in communicating with people with memory loss, and in helping seniors and their families with the transition to memory care.
