Remembering Our Founder
We at Sunnyside Manor honor the memory of John F. Keane, founder and past president, whose visionary approach to care is at the heart of our community. Mr. Keane was dedicated to care, comfort, and dignity for seniors, a legacy that his children, John F. Keane, Jr., Kathleen Keane Lindenthal, and MaryEllen Keane, have shared over the past 25 years.
In a career that spanned over five decades and saw the successful administration of multiple hospitals and care centers, Sunnyside Manor was Mr. Keane’s proudest accomplishment.
More than thirty years ago, Mr. Keane and his wife Lucia saw the opportunity to create a new standard for senior care at Sunnyside Manor. Their dedication transformed Sunnyside Manor from the small nursing home they purchased in 1990 to the thriving senior living community it is today. From the beginning, Mr. Keane had a vision of what his community would be. He had the passion and purpose to see it through, a knack for bringing others along with him, and – as he would surely acknowledge – some good luck along the way.
Mr. Keane’s family was his world. He led Sunnyside Manor alongside his wife Lucia, and his children John, Kathleen, and MaryEllen, until his retirement. John and MaryEllen, who have been with the community for over 25 years, continue his legacy at Sunnyside Manor today.
Even as we miss Mr. Keane’s bold yet kind presence, his spirit is with us. Sunnyside Manor is a culmination of his work and values: a place of care and respect, where seniors and their families can come together as a community and celebrate life’s joys.
As the Keane family and the Sunnyside Manor family honor Mr. Keane’s life, we thank the greater Jersey Shore community for their continued support and faith in our family’s vision.
