Walk to end Alzheimer’s disease raises 5k

The Coast Star

BRADLEY BEACH – Sunnyside Manor, an assisted living community in Wall Township, gathered their “Recollections at Sunnyside Manor” team consisting of staff, residents’ families, sponsors and friends to help raise both funds and awareness for the fight against Alzheimer’s disease and all other dementia at their Oct. 3 Monmouth-Ocean Walk to End Alzheimer’s which took place in the borough.

The two-mile walk took place along the promenade, beginning at Fifth and Ocean Avenue. Every registered participant who achieved the fundraising minimum of $100 received an official Walk to End Alzheimer’s t-shirt. Each participant also received a promise garden flower in a variety of four colors which best represented their personal connection to the disease. Blue represents someone living with Alzheimer’s or another dementia, purple is for those who have lost someone to the disease, yellow represents someone who is currently supporting or caring for a person living with Alzheimer’s and orange is for those who support the cause and the association’s vision of a world without Alzheimer’s and all other forms of dementia.
