For Immediate Release: The Keanes Celebrate 25 Years Of Care At Sunnyside Manor
The family continues to expand offerings at the senior living community as it approaches one year at its new location.
WALL, NJ ¬– As Sunnyside Manor nears its one-year anniversary at its new location, it also celebrates 25 years of continued innovation. Since 1991, the family owned and operated community has offered world-class senior care under the direction of John and Lucia Keane and their family. In October 2015, Sunnyside Manor moved into its newly constructed community in Wall, NJ. At its new location, enhanced programs have been unveiled for memory care, skilled nursing and rehabilitation, and Independence ‘Plus’ Assisted Living.
“Local families have turned to us for the past 25 years to provide their loved ones with the highest level of care,” said MaryEllen Keane, Vice President of Sunnyside Manor. “Our recent relocation has allowed us to provide all new services that enhance the quality lifestyle of our residents.”
Coming from a successful career as president of a number of hospitals for the Archdiocese of New York, John Keane and his wife Lucia became the owners of Sunnyside Manor in 1991, when the community was located on Ramshorn Drive in Wall. In order to keep up with trends towards long-term care and provide families with the best possible services, Sunnyside Manor underwent several renovations before moving to its current location on Ridgewood Road in Wall last year.
Twenty years ago, daughter MaryEllen joined the family business, followed by her brother John Keane, Jr. Both were crucial players in facilitating a stress-free move for Sunnyside’s current families: MaryEllen secured a partnership with the Atlantic Club after one resident expressed his wish for a pool at the new location, and John, Jr. re-assured one concerned resident by taking photos of the view from his former apartment.
“We care personally about each of our residents, and wanted to ensure that they were just as excited about the move as we were,” said MaryEllen Keane. “We’re very pleased with our transition, and our new community is now in full swing and hosts happy hours and seminars year-round, in addition to offering new programs.”
Sunnyside Manor’s Recollections Memory Care Program, which is an expanded offering at the new location, provides safe and secure living quarters for seniors living with Alzheimer’s and other memory impairment. The memory care neighborhood features specialized recreational and therapeutic programming and an experienced staff trained in memory care.
“We created an environment that feels like home and provides help to seniors living with memory impairment. Residents in our memory care neighborhood have access to a bright and welcoming living room, views of the valley and green space, and home-style meals in a private dining room,” said Keane.
A skilled nursing center offers a similar homelike environment for seniors requiring intensive medical care. Sunnyside Manor offers recovery after hospitalization, rehabilitation, respite stays, and care for those with illnesses that require long-term nursing care. The program is founded after the same principles as the community’s previous center in Manasquan, which earned the Eli Pick Leadership Award for advancing leadership excellence in long-term care.
The community also offers an Independence ‘Plus’ Assisted Living option with luxury studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments. Seniors in this program receive customized support services, weekly housekeeping, laundry and linen services, and access to 24/7 onsite nursing.
“Our Independence ‘Plus’ Assisted Living program pairs lifestyle support with a vibrant community,” added Keane. “Residents in this program have access to a full suite of amenities, including free transportation, all-day dining, a full calendar of social and recreational activities, and a complimentary membership to the Atlantic Club with scheduled trips.”
The skilled nursing and assisted living neighborhoods occupy separate wings of the 105,000-square-foot community and are connected by a therapy room and hair salon. Both large and intimate dining areas are available to accommodate visiting guests, and Sunnyside Manor encourages family members to join their loved ones for meals. “We know the importance of family at Sunnyside Manor,” said Keane. “We invite loved ones to join our residents for holiday meals or complimentary lunches any day of the year.”
Sunnyside Manor will continue to extend its programs to best suit its current and new residents. The community is currently building on its offering of two-bedroom apartments to accommodate more seniors in a home-like, independent living environment.
